The Cures Act fundamentally changes how patients interact with their health information. As of January 2023 (now), healthcare providers will have to share more electronic health information with patients. It’s all based on Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®), which standardizes how data and elements are formatted for exchanging electronic health records (EHRs).
